When and where should you use acrylic adhesive?

02.02.2023

When performing simpler interior mounting or fixing works there is no need to always use solvent-based adhesives. In fact, a safer and more affordable alternative is to use acrylic adhesives.

In our Penosil range we recommend using Penosil SpeedFix All Interior 697 for various interior mounting and gluing works. Penosil SpeedFix All Interior 697 is a high-quality multipurpose acrylic adhesive with a strong initial bond and long-lasting results.

Water-based acrylic adhesives are a much better option for interior mounting works as they are practically odourless and considerably more environmentally friendly due to their low volatile organic compound (VOC) content. Penosil SpeedFix All Interior 697 has an EC1+ certificate, which confirms that this product does not emit any harmful compounds into the environment.

Moreover, due to its water-based structure acrylic adhesive is easy to clean up and can be painted with acrylic-based paints. Tools, hands and uncured product residue can simply be cleaned with a cloth and a bit of water.

Solvent-based adhesives can ruin natural stone surfaces as they may cause ‘staining’ on the stone’s surface. Acrylic adhesives can be used safely for bonding various natural stone surfaces such as marble and granite without fear of damaging the precious stone. After curing, Penosil SpeedFix All Interior 697 forms a strong and rigid connection with most common building materials such as wood, masonry, plasterboard, concrete, ceramics, natural stone, polystyrene, etc. Penosil SpeedFix All Interior 697 has an adhesive strength of 11 kg/cm².

Acrylic adhesives are highly versatile and can be used for a large variety of internal general construction works. Penosil SpeedFix All Interior 697 can be used for: quick repair works, installing door and floor mouldings and various decorative details, installing wood and plasterboard panels, strengthening screw attachments and many other applications.

How to use Penosil SpeedFix All Interior 697?

  • First, clean the surfaces to be bonded. Make sure the surfaces are clean, dry and free from any dust, loose particles and oil residues.
  • Cut the tip of the cartridge. Screw the nozzle on and cut an opening. Place the cartridge on a sealant gun.
  • Apply the adhesive by keeping an even pressure on the gun trigger and smoothly dragging the nozzle along the surface.
  • Immediately after application, press the surfaces together and apply pressure until the product is fully cured. The final curing time depends on the air humidity, adhesive layer thickness and surface materials.
  • Remove excess uncured product with Penosil Cleaning Wipes or water. Cured product can be removed mechanically.
  • Ensure sufficient ventilation for the working area.

Although Penosil SpeedFix All Interior 697 is moisture and UV proof, it is not recommended to use it on surfaces that are in constant contact with water or on connections that require high elasticity.
