USAGE INSTRUCTION

Open the gun’s dispenser nozzle, place the package in the gun and open its dispenser side end by removing the bracket. Place the dispenser nozzle on the open end and screw on the cap. Install the sealant in the joint by pressing the gun’s trigger recurrently and evenly and dragging the nozzle smoothly along the joint. To achieve the best results but in particular in case of wide joints, the sealant must be applied in three stages: first on the sides and then in the middle. Once the sealant has been applied, it has to be pressed slightly against the backer rod and side surfaces to ensure that it is correctly installed and takes the desired shape. Usually special tools are used for it, e.g. a wooden spatula. To make the spatula more convenient to use, it has to be moistened before use, preferably in soapy water. Excessive sealant must be completely removed and the top surface of the sealant must be smoothened. It is very important that processing and smoothening the sealant take place before skin is formed on its top surface. During curing, make sure no dirt falls on the material’s surface and that the surface of the joint is not under mechanical stress. Ensure sufficient ventilation in all jointed locations.

TIPS

• Prior to sealing the joints, the main shrinkage of concrete must be already completed.
• Surfaces must be dry and free from dust, loose particles, grease and oil.
• In case of porous surfaces it is recommended to finish the substrate with a thin primer layer to improve adhesion.
• Once the primer is dry, a backer rod not adhering to the sealant should be installed.
• The purpose of a backer rod is to ensure the correct depth of the joint and avoid three-sided adhesion of the sealant and to give the sealant the desired shape.
• The diameter of the backer rod must be approx. 25% bigger than the width of the joint.
• The ratio between the width and thickness of the sealant layer is from 1:1 to 3:1. In case of an ideal joint the ratio is 2:1.
• Application temperature range: from +5°C to +40°C.

LIMITATIONS

• Not suitable for surfaces containing bitumen or on construction materials that may emit oils, plasticisers or solvents (e.g. natural or synthetic rubber, chloroprene, EPDM rubber).
• Does not adhere to polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), PTFE (Teflon®). Due to the abundance of materials, we recommend testing the suitability and adhesion of the product before use. If necessary, use a primer to improve adhesion.
• Not suitable for use in areas where contact with natural stone (e.g. marble and granite) is expected.
• Paintability: a cured sealant can be painted with various water-based paints. As there are many different paints and varnishes available, we recommend always testing the suitability prior to painting.
